Why are so many people making themselves ill and slowly killing themselves by making poor health choices? Is it a personal or family problem; or should we blame our instant gratification society?

Did  you know that over the last three decades fast food has infiltrated every aspect of American society?  Fast food is now served at home, restaurants, stadiums, airports, zoos, high schools, elementary schools, pre-schools, universities, on cruise ships, and even at hospital cafeterias.

Just think about the poor guy in the hospital with coronary disease who is asking, "Why are you feeding me the same food that made me sick?"

Here are just some of the statistics:
  • In 1970, there was $46 billion spent of fast food.
  • In 2001, there was more than $110 billion spent on fast food
  • More money was spent on fast food last year than on higher education, personal computers, new cars, movies, magazines, books, recorded music and dvds combined.
Fast food has joined Hollywood movies, blue jeans and pop music as one of America¹s most prominent exports. Three new American fast food restaurants have opened every day for the last seven years in Japan, and Japanese people are catching right up to Americans with poor health statistics.
We exercise 9 times less, drink contaminated water, breathe polluted air, and eat infected animals.
  • In 1970, the average teenager drank 7 oz. Soda/daily.
  • In 2007, the average teen drank 3 times that amount (21 oz) and derived 9% of their daily calories from it.
There is 10 teaspoons of sugar in each can.  Many teens are drinking 5 or more cans a day!  Diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, and heart disease are all rising among teens.  The question is, should it be treated with drugs? No, take away their soda!
Here are some interesting statistics from the Journal of Dentistry:
  • Many infants now bottle-fed soda.
  • Pepsi, 7-Up and Dr. Pepper licensed for baby bottles.
There are eight areas that have been closely linked to disease:
  1. Deficiencies: nutrients, water , sleep and exercise
  2. Abnormal immunity: autoimmune issues, inflammation, allergies, abnormal cell growth, low immunity, and vitality
  3. Injuries: trauma, surgery, neglect and abuse
  4. Contagions: bacterial, viral, parasites, insects and fungus (70% are transferred through hands.  The second highest percentage through a purse)
  5. Genetics/Age: time and DNA
  6. Toxins/Free Radicals: poison, pollution, chemicals, drugs, environmental toxins, accumulations in intestines, blood, fats, brains
  7. Abnormal Metabolism: obesity, diabetes, hormonal problems
  8. Stress: physical, mental, emotional, poor habits
Health Risks Associated With These Eight Areas:
  1. Deficiencies: energy, cardio, brain, bones, muscles, nerves, hormones
  2. Abnormal immunity: autoimmune, inflammation, allergies, abnormal cell growth, low immune, vitality
  3. Injuries:  trauma, surgery, neglect, abuse
  4. Contagions:  mold, flu, sore throat, herpes, STD, cardiovascular
  5. Genetics/Age: memory, muscles, bones, hormones, energy, reflexes, enzymes, abnormal cells, pain
  6. Toxins/Free Radicals: allergies, cancers, intestinal, blood, liver, Parkinson's, rashes, immune disorders, depression, fibromyalgia, MS, pain, autoimmune
  7. Abnormal Metabolism:  Chronic fatigue syndrome, constipation, depression, thyroid and more
  8. Stress:  systemic anxiety, free radicals, obesity, all disease
It has been shown that we as a society bring on about 80% of our diseases through poor lifestyle choices. The good news is that our body can and will heal itself with the proper tools, one cell at a time, with the assistance of vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, amino acids, antioxidants.
Healthy people can also get many benefits from the regular use of multi-vitamin and mineral supplements. Even the US government recommends that everyone should use some sort of
supplement daily.    Congress, Public Law 103-417 (DSHEA)

Our goal: to stop the origin of abnormal body function or poor health; which is different from stopping the symptoms! We can stop symptoms with drugs (anti-inflammatories, pain killers, immune-reducing drugs), but we need to stop the CAUSE.

We can prevent the cause of disease through: healthy diet, intestinal cleansing, lymphatic cleansing, sleep, stretching, detoxifying the joints, reducing sugar intake, restoring good flora in our digestive system.

Our cells make up everything in our bodies (our blood, lymph, tissue, organs, bones, muscles).  It is interesting to see what happens inside of them.

Inner World of a Cell

I would like to share one of my favorite videos (for educational purposes only). This was created by Biovision and Harvard University. It is called “The Inner Life of the Cell.”  This is the best representation of what is happening inside of cells that I have ever come across.  As you watch this video you can see why keeping our cells healthy is so crucially important to our overall wellbeing:
